AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb listings have fallen from last week's surge in numbers, with a total of 66,717 head offered, 18% down on last week's yarding.
The clearance rate has declined 12 percentage points to finish the week at 62%. Prices have taken cut, with the Crossbred Lamb indicator down a further 5% from last week to average $130 a head. The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb indicator however has also dipped 87c/kg below last week's numbers to average 644c/kg dressed.
However, the value over reserve has fallen to average $7/head over set reserves, slipping $4 from last week. Lots that sold during the auction averaged $9/head above reserve averaging $133/head, with the figure slightly above post-auction transactions.
The new season lamb offerings have continued to remain strong, with a total of 48,365 offered down 14% from the 56,368 offered last week.
This category made up 72% of the total yarding. New season lambs achieved a 65% clearance rate, down from 76% last week. Meanwhile, the average price fell $8 per head to average $120/head this week.
Listings fell across all states except South Australia who witnessed an influx of numbers increasing 11,200 from the week prior to total 21,484 head for the week.
NSW experiencing the most significant decrease in numbers. NSW listings totaled 35,080, experiencing a 20,817 decrease from last week.
The NSW Central West have taken over the Riverina as the highest listing region. With the 13,036 head listed from the region, the numbers made up 20% of the week's total sheep and lamb offerings across the platform.

Crossbred lambs registered 25,396 head, down 2% from the numbers seen last week, with prices slightly decreasing to average of $130 down on last week's average of $135/head. Merino Wether Lambs witnessed also witnessed a slip in numbers, dipping down 57% from last week. The 12,784 head offered averaged $85/head, decreasing $27 a head from the week prior.
From Grenfell, NSW a line of 320 Poll Dorset/Merino mixed sexed lambs July 2024 drop and weighing 26kg lwt returned $122/head, or 462c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Forbes, NSW.
First cross ewe lamb prices felt a squeeze, averaging $151/head down $20 a head on last week. However, the clearance rate fell to 68% from the 71% last week. From Western flat, SA a line of 460 Border Leicester/Merino ewes Apr/May 2024 drop and weighing 31kg lwt returned $137/head, or 445c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Naracoorte, SA.
Composite/Other Breed Lambs averaged $143/head, rising $19/head from last week. Listing numbers for the category were up 46%, with 980 included in this week's offering, compared to 670 offered last week. From Tarcutta, NSW a line of 480 Primeline mixed sexed lambs July 2024 drop and weighing 37kg lwt returned $150/head, or 409c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Canowindra, NSW.
