Former Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) Chief Executive Will Evans has been appointed as the next CEO of Cattle Australia.

Mr Evans, who has also worked in live export and national beef cattle policy, starts in the role next week.

He will work alongside outgoing CEO, Dr Chris Parker, during a one-month transition period.

Cattle Australia Chair, Garry Edwards, said Mr Evans was appointed following a targeted recruitment process undertaken to ensure a timely and smooth transition. Mr Evans brings extensive experience in cattle industry representation.

“Along with his strong track record in advocacy and industry leadership, Will brings energy and strategic thinking to the organisation,” Mr Edwards said.

“As we continue to implement our strategic plan Towards 2030, Will is well placed to help strengthen the voice of producers and unify our approach nationally. We’re delighted to welcome him to the role.”

Mr Evans said he was honoured to be entrusted to lead Cattle Australia.

"Among the many tasks CA undertakes, engaging with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) on the investment of the grass-fed levy is a high priority,” Mr Evans said.

“CA has announced it will be leading a levy review process to ensure that it remains producer-focused, transparent and attuned to the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of our industry.

“I look forward to engaging with cattle producers and industry stakeholders nationally to hear their perspectives on how this can best be achieved."

Dr Parker, who has been CEO of Cattle Australia since November 2023, is staying with the organisation, in a part-time role as Strategic Government Liaison.

The bottom line

  • Will Evans has been appointed as the next CEO of Cattle Australia.

  • He will work alongside outgoing CEO, Dr Chris Parker, during a one-month transition period.

  • Dr Parker will stay on in a part-time role as Strategic Government Liaison.
