INDICATORS: EYCI and ARLI surge upwards

It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) gained a further 17.78c this week to be 936.50c/kg cwt by Friday morning. It was the second week of increases, but remains a decrease of 67.13c for the month. It’s 67.26c higher than the same time last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, lifted this week, by 7.92c/kg to 477.98c/kg on Friday morning. It is down 50.44c on last month and up 20.70c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, lifted and was sitting at 451.26c/kg on Friday morning. It’s up 0.45c on last week and down 33.96c on last month.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 369.23c/kg on Friday morning, up 5.03c on last week and down 6.72c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Blackall, Roma and Wagga. 

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI)  surged 99c to 1,525c/kg dressed weight this week.

The Light Lamb Indicator lost last week's gains and more falling 49.60c this week to be 1,034.82c on Friday morning, which was 118.63c down on last month and 75.46c up on last year.

The Heavy Lamb Indicator also fell, by 29.97c over the past week to be sitting at 1,100.08c/kg cwt. That represents a decrease of 27.49c over the past month and it's 72.71c lower than the same time last year.
