It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) lifted this week. It was sitting at 897.15c/kg cwt on Friday morning, an increase of 15.38c for the week, 42.77c for the month and 232.35c on last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) fell this week, by 3.76c/kg to 479.38c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 25.07c on last month and 143.96c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, was sitting at 441.17c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 11.96c up on last week.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 380.36c/kg on Friday morning, up 4.81c on last week. The top three contributors to this indicator were Dubbo, Inverell and Tamworth.

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) lifted 30c week-on-week to reach 584c/kg liveweight, equivalent to 1,390c/kg dressed weight, setting a new all-time high for the indicator. On a per-head basis the indicator averaged $205/head, up $8 on last week and $24 higher month-on-month, highlighting continued strong restocker demand for lambs.

The Light Lamb Indicator lifted 53.43c to be 1,114.53c on Friday morning, which was 35.82c up on last month and 388.02 up on last year.

Meanwhile the Heavy Lamb Indicator lifted 18.72c over the past week to be sitting at 1,113.03c/kg cwt.
