INDICATORS: EYCI continues downhill slide

It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) fell again this week. It was sitting at 832.39c/kg cwt on Friday morning, a drop of 38.69c for the week, back 64.26c from a month ago and up 209.86c on last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) also slipped slightly, by 2.38c/kg to 456.71c/kg on Friday morning. It is 2.38c back on the previous month and is up 133.79c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, was sitting at 408.12c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 19.82c down on last week, and 31.61c back on the previous month.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 364.95c/kg on Friday morning, down 9.89c on last week and 7.24c on the previous month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Dalby, Roma Store and Dubbo.

In the sheep market, the AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) fell this week by 48c to be 1,235c/kg cwt.

The Online Sheep Indicator (OSI) lifted to $257.87/head, which was $19.43/head higher than last week, and $34.35/head higher than a month ago.

Meanwhile the Heavy Lamb Indicator lifted 1.23c over the past week but was 33.70c lower than the previous month to be sitting at 1,112.48c/kg cwt.
