INDICATORS: EYCI lifts to nearly 1000c/kg CWT

It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) lifted to 996.05c/kg cwt by Friday morning, an increase of 20.75c for the week and 117.46c for the month. It’s 295.93c higher than the same time last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, also lifted this week, by 15.35c/kg to 532.39c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 72.27c on last month and up 152.65c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, decreased slightly and was sitting at 476.55c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 0.49c down on last week.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 375.29c/kg on Friday morning, down 7.51c on last week and up 24.18c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Charters Towers, Dalby and Roma. 

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

In the past week the AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) lifted 91c to 1,534c/kg dressed weight.  

The Light Lamb Indicator fell 6.16 this week to be 1,126.08c on Friday morning, which was 9.96c down on last month and 205.77 up on last year.

The Heavy Lamb Indicator also fell by 22.58c over the past week to be sitting at 1,105.16c/kg cwt. That represents an increase of 19.42c over the past month and 43.92c on the same time last year.
