It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) fell this week. It was sitting at 840.59c/kg cwt on Friday morning, a decrease of 21.64cfor the week, and up 199.58c on last year.

There are no monthly comparisons available due to the New Year’s break.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) also dipped this week, by 7.35c/kg to 455.71c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 112.44c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, was sitting at 404.33c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 15.92c back on last week.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 366.23c/kg on Friday morning, down 5.64c on last week. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma Store, Dubbo and Gunnedah.

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The Online Sheep Indicator (OSI) lifted to $233/head, which was $34/head higher than last week, and $102/head higher than a year ago.

The Light Lamb Indicator lifted 47.03c to be 1,084.64c on Friday morning, which was 378.9 up on last year. A rapid climb this week and the highest it has been since before Christmas.

Meanwhile the Heavy Lamb Indicator jumped 40.39c over the past week to be sitting at 1,096.12c/kg cwt.
