It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.
The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) eased slightly this week. It was sitting at 889.50c/kg cwt on Friday morning, a fall of 7.87c for the week, back 4.48c from a month ago and up 239.21c on last year.
The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) also fell by 8.84c/kg to 466.80c/kg on Friday morning. It is 1.13c back on the previous month and is up 118.42c on the same time last year.
The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market was sitting at 430.79c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 2.94c back on last week, and 2.78c back on the previous month.
The Processor Cow Indicator was 380.38c/kg on Friday morning, down 10.32c on last week but up 12.67c on the previous month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma Store, Dubbo and Charters Towers.

In the sheep market, the AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) has settled after reaching a record high last week. This week it’s dropped 117c to be 1,266c/kg cwt.
The Online Sheep Indicator (OSI) also fell to $255.65/head, which was $9.49/head more than last week.
Meanwhile the Heavy Lamb Indicator dipped 48.86c over the past week but is 10.78c higher than the previous month to be sitting at 1,140.82c/kg cwt.
