INDICATORS: Online sales influence lifts NYCI and Heavy Lamb Indicator exceeds 1000c/kg

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) has climbed this week by 24.22c to 380.01c/kg liveweight on Friday morning. It has lifted 1.58c on the previous month and is up 62.70c on the same time last year.

The NYCI is a seven-day rolling average of young cattle sold across all NLRS-reported saleyards and Australia’s suite of online livestock marketplaces.

NSW Online sales again accounted for the largest portion of the calculation at 22%, averaging 400c/kg Liveweight.

Meanwhile in the NYCI, Yearling steers were the largest category included, with a head count of 7,950, averaging 402.68c/kg, a 22.38c/kg price lift from last week.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI), a seven-day rolling average of young cattle from 23 saleyards across Queensland, NSW and Victoria, was sitting at 734.16 cents per kilogram dressed on Friday morning, up 48.77 for the week, up 17.81 from a month ago and up 137.51 on last year.

In the sheep market, the Restocker Lamb Indicator was sitting at 861.81 cents per kilogram dressed on Friday morning, up 73.43c week on week. The Heavy Lamb Indicator lifted to 1004.57 cents per kilogram dressed, an increase of 102.37 for the week and up 308.27c compared to the same time last year.

The Merino Lamb Indicator jumped this week by 91.84c to 801.26 cents per kilogram, meanwhile the Mutton Indicator jumped to 616.32 cents per kilogram dressed, an increase of 46.18c/kg week on week.
