This week's cattle comments comes to you from the AuctionsPlus team at Beef, 2024 at Rockhampton. While the industry gathered en masse in Queensland for the event, AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales continued across the country.

This week listings fell by 18% to 12,208 head. The average Value Over Reserve jumped $19 to $95 and the clearance rate dropped 12 percentage points to 59%. The AuctionsPlus Young Cattle Indicator lifted 22 points to 358, meanwhile benchmark steers 280-330kg were up 22 to $1,100.

AuctionsPlus commercial cattle listings more than doubled to 8,492 head. Clearance was a healthy 77%. Benchmark steers (280-330kg) rose 4% to $1,170 but value over reserve fell $7 to $106. The AuctionsPlus Young Cattle Indicator fell 7 points to 363.
A shortened week meant cattle listings fell to 3,773. Clearance was 64%, while value over reserve jumped to $172. Steers 280-330kg fell $59 to $1,129.
AuctionsPlus commercial cattle listings fell by 30% this week to 12,434. The smaller offering saw good take-up by buyers however, with clearance rebounding 23 points on last week's poor showing to 59%. Prices for benchmark steers 280-330kg rose by 8% while value over reserve also jumped $53 points to $76. The AuctionsPlus young cattle indicator also rose 23 points.
