This week listings rose 17% to 17,509 head. The average Value Over Reserve jumped $13 to $94 and the clearance rate dropped 22 percentage points to 53%. The AuctionsPlus Young Cattle Indicator fell 20 points to 359, meanwhile benchmark steers 280-330kg were down 6% to $1,109.
Listings were fairly steady across the country, but in NSW producers offered almost an additional 2000 head this week. There were no big movers and shakers in the purchasing breakdown, with a drop of 928 head by NSW the largest change.
Processor activity accounted for 9% of the offering.

Steer categories largely experienced price drops, with falls of $14-197/head recorded this week, with those weighing less than 200kg the only category to fetch a $26/head boost.
From Dalveen, QLD, a line of 22 Angus steers aged 10 to 12 months old and weighing 278kg returned $1115/head, or 401c/kg lwt and will travel to a buyer in Yarranlea, QLD.
Heifer prices fell dramatically this week with average falls from $40-217/head across the categories. Heifers 330-400kg took the biggest hit on a per head basis, but it was the 280-330kg heifers that recorded the biggest dip on a c/kg basis with a fall of 73c/kg.
From Armidale, a line of 100 Angus heifers aged 8 to 9 months old and weighing 294kg returned $1060/head, or 361c/kg lwt and will travel to a buyer in Walcha, NSW.
There were some big losses on a week on week basis in the breeding stock categories as well. PTIC heifers recorded the smallest price retraction from the previous week, with a $2/head decrease to average $1,660/head for the 1,731 head offered.
From Oberon, NSW, 68 PTIC heifers, split into four lots offered by a single vendor, returned an average price of $2,120/head, ranging in price between $2,080 - $2,220. The top price for the vendor's four lots and the PTIC heifer category was achieved for a line of 14 PTIC AI'd heifers, aged 19 - 21 months and have been AI'd to Millah Murrah sires.
From Bathurst, a line of 29 Angus cows aged 3 years old and weighing 522kg returned $2360/head, or 452c/kg lwt and will travel to a buyer in Blayney, NSW.
