For recent university graduate Sophie Marriott, being part of the Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging (ICMJ) team has been more than just a competition—it’s been a career-shaping experience.

Fresh from an intensive tour of the United States, where the team competed against top university programs and gained firsthand insight into the global meat industry, Ms Marriot shares how ICMJ has broadened her knowledge, strengthened her industry connections, and opened doors for her future.

From cutting-edge processing facilities to world-class beef operations, her time in the US reinforced the importance of developing skilled young professionals in Australia’s red meat sector.
