A llama named Gidget stole the spotlight in the inaugural AuctionsPlus Christmas Multi-Breed Farmstock Sale, becoming the top-priced lot in a diverse offering of alpaca and llama studstock.
The online sale attracted vendors from across New South Wales and Victoria, celebrating the festive season with a unique twist on livestock auctions.

Gidget, a pregnant llama female registered with LAA, attracted buyers with her standout qualities. According to her listing, Gidget is halter trained, extremely quiet, and has excelled at exhibitions.
Described as having a "no-fuss nature, easy birthing history, and excellent mothering abilities," is believed to have added to her appeal. She is currently pregnant to Painted Pines Galaxy, a dilute reverse appaloosa sire, with her cria expected on March 24, 2025.
The detailed listing also noted that Gidget was recently shorn in November, demonstrating her readiness for both breeding and exhibitions.
The AuctionsPlus Christmas Multi-Breed Farmstock Sale achieved impressive results, with a clearance rate of 78%, as 18 out of 23 head were sold. The average price per lot was $1,186, and the highest-priced lot, Gidget, sold for $2,350.
The auction drew significant interest from buyers and viewers alike. There were 4,900 catalogue views recorded before the sale, reflecting strong engagement with the listings. During the auction, 598 individuals logged in, with 399 registered users, 68 active viewers, and 131 guests.
A total of 212 bids were placed across 15 lots, with 11 successful bidders securing purchases.
