The first-ever stud ram sale to use integrated Sheep Genetics ASBV data on AuctionsPlus has been hailed a success, with buyers responding strongly to the enhanced transparency and ease of accessing verified performance information.

The Low Footprint Lamb Nudie stud, situated near Croxton East, Victoria, conducted its Maternal Shedding Composite Ram Sale online through AuctionsPlus - setting a new benchmark for digital stud selling.

The industry-first integration allowed bidders to view Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) directly within the online catalogue, delivering a clearer picture of each article’s genetic merit.

That capability translated into high levels of engagement, with 4,614 catalogue views, 83 logins, and 781 online bids placed across the offering.

A total of 32 active bidders competed during the condensed half-hour sale window, with 29 going on to secure rams. Of the 99 rams offered, 89 were sold, averaging $2,759, and topping at $11,200.

The sale topper, Lot 12 – Low Footprint Lamb 240336, a September 2024-drop twin, was purchased by long-term supporters David and Mary Booth of Buronga Pastoral, Cootamundra, NSW - marking their fifth purchase from the stud.

Stud principal Matt Kelly has often used AuctionsPlus from a commercial perspective, but this was his first time interfacing their annual ram sale.

Mr Kelly said the ASBV integration simple and easy to execute from a vendor’s perspective.

“I found it extremely easy. Over the years, I've done different things … and this really was incredibly simple. Just had to have the lot numbers, the Sheep Genetics IDs, and away it went,” Mr Kelly said.

Leading into the new year, studs have begun including the integration in their catalogues. It is now live in the Chrome Sheep Stud Summer Sale, commencing January 5, 2026, and the Gemini 15th Annual Summer Sale, commencing February 4.
