On the eleventh day of Christmas: Horse sales top at $180,000

The 2024 Nutrien Classic Sale once again cemented its reputation as a cornerstone of the Australian performance horse industry, generating more than $12 million in sales. From 554 horses offered, an impressive 88.63% sold, achieving an overall average of $25,058.

Leading the charge was HAZELWOOD CON OAK (Hazelwood Conman x Oaks Prospect), a standout mare who claimed the title of top-priced horse interfaced through AuctionsPlus in 2024. Selling for $180,000 to Ben and Rae Hill of Thallon, Queensland, she was presented by accomplished horseman Will Durkin on behalf of long-time vendors Terry and Christine Hall.

Terry and Christine Hall celebrated a significant milestone during the event, with their legendary sire Hazelwood Conman surpassing $10 million in progeny sales through the Nutrien Classic and Masters Sales—a first in Australian history. Among his progeny are over 10 event winners at the Nutrien Classic, from campdrafts to challenges.

With such success stories, anticipation is already building for the 2025 Nutrien Classic Sale. Be sure to check out next year’s catalogue.
