Listings were led by Southwest Victoria this week, with the region offering 33,584 head.
Clearance rates are expected to rise with post-sale negotiations over the next 48 hours.
Post-sale negotiations played a key role in raising overall clearance rates in the 48 hours following Tuesdays’ commercial sales.
Volatility of supply and price can be an expected feature of the cattle markets through to the end of the year.
Following the immediate closure of the auction, clearance rates for the sale reached 43%.
Despite the much larger offering, the clearance rate jumped to 75% this week, up from the very subdued 49% last week.
AuctionsPlus goat numbers for October reached a total of 3,517 head – an 82% rise.
The National Lamb Sale registered a total of 38,976 head, with the smaller offering seeing clearance rates reach 90% - up from last week’s 76%.
