For the first time ever, sheep breeders will be able to integrate Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) Sheep Genetics data directly into AuctionsPlus stud listings, allowing buyers to access verified Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) through easy-to-use, enhanced digital catalogues.
From early 2026, this integration will make it simpler for sellers to showcase genetic merit, while buyers can search, filter, highlight key lots, and set alerts via the new AuctionsPlus app and website.
AuctionsPlus Chief Executive Officer Wyn Snyman said the integration brings together the power of genetic data with practical, easy-to-use tools that benefit the whole industry.
“MLA’s Sheep Genetics is an incredibly powerful resource for the industry, and AuctionsPlus is proud to provide the interface that ensures this data can be fully utilised by those buying and selling breeding stock in the sheep industry,” Mr Snyman said.
“AuctionsPlus is the only auction platform in Australia to enable sellers and buyers to leverage the power of Sheep Genetics to market and select for specific ASBVs.
“AuctionsPlus is committed to connecting ag and funded this innovation to drive productivity, underpin sustainable and profitable farming, and build stronger, more resilient supply chains.”
MLA’s Manager - Sheep Genetics, Peta Bradley, described the integration as “a game-changer for the sheep industry”.
“By embedding verified Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) directly into AuctionsPlus listings and simplifying genetic information, this makes genetic data more accessible and actionable for breeders and buyers,” Ms Bradley said.
“It’s a major step toward accelerating genetic gain, improving transparency, and supporting more informed decision-making across the supply chain. We’re excited to see how this innovation will drive productivity and profitability for producers. Importantly, presenting genetic information at the point of sale in a clear and easy-to-understand manner strongly aligns with MLA’s value-based marketing initiative outlined in the 2030 Strategic Plan.”
The AuctionsPlus team is in Adelaide this week for the MLA Updates: ‘Towards 2030 - Driving prosperity through productivity, profitability and sustainability’, meeting with producers and agents to answer questions ahead of the rollout.
Vendors are encouraged to discuss how listing their stud sales on AuctionsPlus gives them access to this first-of-its-kind integration, while buyers will start experiencing the benefits in catalogues from early 2026.
