The beautifully restored Olive Grove homestead in South Australia has changed hands for the first time in over 150 years.
A local family in Bordertown has purchased the stunning Olive Grove homestead.
The 1902 house was built from materials retrieved from the Wirrega homestead and was professionally restored in 2008 when the owners embarked on a major restoration project having kept ‘Olive Grove’ homestead and land in the family for more than 150 years.
Selling agent Geoff Watts from Nutrien Harcourts Keith said the property has also successfully produced good quality wool, prime lambs and mixed cropping including wheat, barley, beans, lentils and canola.
“We are very happy with the sale,” he said. “We had 39 enquiries, two open inspection days and four bidders on the day. The buyer is the Feder family, a local farming family who have other land in the district and over towards Kaniva in Victoria.” It’s understood the property sold at a near record price per acre.
About eight years ago the Feder family purchased sister property Olive Bank, which was also previously owned by the Hays Family.
Mr Watts said architecture aside, the homestead has plenty of special features. “It has a cellar, no ghosts that we know of and a large, long ladder was included in the deal in order to change light globes.”
