Located on her working beef property near Cootamundra NSW, the brand "Cathy Hamilton Artworks" has blossomed since its conception. With her art studio overlooking her country garden, the 60 year old artist draws inspiration from her surroundings.
Many of my drawings are inspired by the animals we have on the farm, both past and present. For example, the Kelpie, called 'Roy' was a favourite working dog on the farm and the Guinea Fowl (named Godfrey) was a pet until Roy ate Godfrey!! There is a myriad of stories behind each piece of art featured in her collections.
Art has always been a large part of my life and over many years I have tried many mediums, but I've always come back to pencil drawing. I started the business just three and a half years ago, and have now developed into a range of greeting cards, gift tags, art prints, soaps, wrapping paper and placemats that can now be found in more than 140 stores across Australia. The majority of which are regionally based..
The range is ever growing and a major part of my business is pet and people portraits.
I love to say to anyone who is starting out in business that it just goes to show that if you have the passion (and a helpful husband!) you can achieve anything, at ANY age!"
All my products are Australian made and I am proud to say that they are also printed in my home town of Cootamundra, NSW.
