Home to the Dalmally Droughtmaster Stud, the 5302 hectare property went to a Nutrien Harcourts GDL auctions with four registered parties bidding. It was passed in at $18.5 million but sold straight after. The final sale price is equal to $3772/ha.
Dalmally has long been held in high esteem in the Roma district. Located 38 kilometres south west of Roma in the Mt Abundance district, Dalmally is EU accredited and is divided into 20 main grazing paddocks.
Known for its healthy mix of soil, pastures and expansive size, it has had just two owners since 1952 and was offered by well-respected Droughtmaster breeder, Rob Brown.
While the stakes were high, marketing agent John Sims said the strong result was expected.
“There’s not a bad acre there, so we landed right where we thought it would,” he said.
“It was a real pleasure and an honour to get the job to market Dalmally and we’re thrilled for both parties.”
John said the purchase will enable the new owners to expand their local farming enterprise and run more breeders. The Brown family plan to turn their focus to stud cattle on a smaller scale.
“It was certainly pleasing to see it sold to a local family and we wish both families all the best with their future endeavours,” John said.
Dalmally Grazing Co. took to Facebook following the auction, expressing thanks to all involved in the sale.
“Very happy with the result today, following our property auction,” the company wrote.
“A big thanks to all the crew at GDL Roma for all of their good work. Wishing the successful purchases all the best for the future at Dalmally.”
