"Wondaree Farms" comprises three properties and is located in the heart of the Lower Murrumbidgee Region. The aggregation boasts extensive irrigation and crops everything from cotton to maize, wheat and canola to sunflowers and even wine grapes. It was listed for sale last year with a reported asking price of over $30 million.
Located only 50km South of Griffith, the area has long been known for its grain, rice and livestock production. However, in recent times, investment in vineyards, intensive livestock and nut trees have proved more popular.
“Wondaree Farm features almost 100 hectares of producing vineyards with the capacity to expand, along with 1100 hectares of row cropping area,” selling agent Jason Haines from QPL Rural said.
The vendors could not be named but have held the properties for five generations. The new owners who purchased Boondilla will lease Wondaree and Old Ringwood.
Mr Haines said the dual lease-sale arrangement benefited both parties.
“This suits the vendor in order to slow down a little bit, but still be involved in the industry,” Mr Haines said.
“It’s a good outcome for both parties. It was a sale and lease transaction.”
“The new owners are going to continue on with row cropping,” Mr Haines added.
