Neutral Junction is a 460,900-hectare cattle station located between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek and was owned by former rugby league star Charlie Frith.
At almost half a million hectares, around 100km of the Stuart Highway runs through the centre of this station in the heart of the Northern Territory.
Neutral Junction was established in 1907 and was sold after 20 years ownership by former South Sydney rugby league player Charlie Frith.
Charlie Frith enjoyed a 15 year NRL career before returning to the land. The former Rabbitohs front rower played 49 games over three seasons and quickly became a cult hero at Redfern for his brutality. But despite his sporting achievements, the Roma product is also renowned as a successful beef producer.
Neutral Junction was the third large scale Northern Territory station to be listed for sale this year behind Mount Doreen and Walhallow Aggregation.
Mount Doreen was recently sold for $70 million, while Walhallow Aggregation is back on the market after a deal with a Sydney based fund manager fell through.
Neutral Junction was sold along with 7000 head of Droughtmaster-cross, Ultra Blacks and Santa Gertrudis cattle. The property also operates a successful irrigated hay farm.
While no sale price was disclosed by listing agent Olivia Thompson from Nutrien Harcourts in Katherine, several publications have suggested it reached the $30 million mark.
In an interview with the Australian Financial Review Ms Thompson said there had been “really strong interest from a variety of buyers” for the property.
